but i cant trace time
Thank you all so much for taking both time and energy to love and support my newsletter, art and bakes. Feel free to forward this to anyone that may be interested in reading and eating lovely things!
For me, this past week has been filled with a lot of reflecting on the transitional season that is happening around us. There have been more days where Chicagoans are coming out of hibernation and ready to engage in the outside world again. I always look forward to this time of the year where people bring their best selves outside and welcome the changing environment with joy. I also love how collective periods of change bring reflection to myself and every day life. I am nearing the end of my adjustment period being back on anti-depressants which has brought a new light into my life that I didn’t think could exist. This has given me the space to organize and declutter my home, be more vulnerable and creative and continue to form what this platform means to me.
This week, I am bringing in some of my absolute favorite staples, as well as answering a scone request from the lovely Rosie herself! For our newbies, I’m focusing on lamination (still), using some of my sourdough starter (for the Kouign-amanns), and....DECORATING COOKIES. As a high functioning Leo...I tend to move a bit too fast for my own good, which results in the aesthetics of the bakes not getting the love they deserve. My goals for the Masala Vanilla Bean Shortbreads are to slow down, roll out some sugar paste, and turn these cookies into A.R.T! I am also debuting my first sewing project for sale that I am calling.....the everything mini bag!! There are currently only two bags for sale so have at it and we will probably be seeing more in the future
All orders will be ready for local Chicago pick-up or delivery starting on Saturday March, 26th! This week I am going to do a little trial run with a new pick up process. As usual, you will receive an email to coordinate your pick up or delivery, however instead of providing a form to fill out, I will let you know what times I will be home for pick up and you can just stop by at any point. If you cant make it to pick up your goodies when I am home, I will set a cooler out for you to come retrieve your items
I would appreciate any feedback on this new process as we see if it provides more flexibility and capacity for us all. One of my favorite parts of this experience is being able to see everyone, however I would love to build in more flexibility as well. Hopefully this process will be the best of both of these worlds.

I’m working my way through The Broken Earth trilogy by N.K. Jemisin, and it frankly may be the best thing I’ve read ....maybe....dare I say....EVER. However, I’m not done with the series yet and I would find it irresponsible to report back on such a masterpiece prematurely. I have, on the other hand, been having a BLAST looking through my previously read book reviews. If you’re feeling stuck in the reading world, I’ve put together a few of my thoughts from previous readings below. I hope you have as much fun reading through them as I have.
